Registration renewal and reinstatement
Registration cycle
The registration cycle begins on April 1 and ends on March 31.
The renewal period opens on February 15. At that time, the registration system will generate an invoice for the applicable renewal fee, and the legal statements you signed at registration will reset in your online profile. Note that you can maintain your professional profile throughout the year to make the renewal process as simple as possible.
All mandatory renewal information and documents, as well as your renewal fee, are due by March 15—after that date, a late fee applies.
General registration renewal
To begin the renewal process, log into your HMS account, and make sure to:
- Complete your continuing education information (dentists only)
- Complete your professional currency information
- Have a valid professional liability insurance proof in your profile
- Have a valid criminal record check (with vulnerable sector check) in your profile
- Have a current CPR/BLS certification in your profile
- Sign the legal statements
- Pay the annual licence renewal fee that applies to you (fee schedule)
Reinstatement
If you do not renew your registration by March 31, you may apply for reinstatement for up to three years from the date of your registration lapse. You will need to pay the reinstatement fee and the registration fee according to the fee schedule and meet all the renewal requirements listed above.
To begin the reinstatement process:
- Notify the registrar of your intention to proceed with reinstatement
- Log into your HMS account and make sure you are meeting all requirements
- Pay the renewal fee and the annual registration fee that applies to your profession and the point of time in the registration cycle (fee schedule)
If the registrar is satisfied that you meet all reinstatement requirements, your account will be reactivated and your name will again be listed on the public register.
